Today was a big day in the MitMit household - Addie's first dance recital. It reminded me of when I took dance as a kid, except no costumes or make-up. Which if memory serves me correctly those "slutty" costumes for 4 year olds were why my mom pulled me out of dance. (There you have it mom - I'm sure you're excited to be blog content.) So all in all, no costumes...probably a good thing. Here were their dances - centered around the fitness theme:
Heart beat - jazz
Mommy's got a cold - ballet
Hmmmm not sure (MitMit editor's note - later review indicates song was likely Jammie Dance) - tap*
jumpin jack - no obvious style, unless jumping & jumping jacks are a specific genre.
*tap = on carpet, no tap shoes.
Compared to her peers, as an unbiased judge, I consider Addie's awesomeness even more noteworthy for what she did not do:
- stand in front row, hide head in hands, refuse to dance
- suck on two fingers while twirling hair. No dancing.
- reserve 1 hand for dancing, 1 for nose-picking.
Addie was great! Albeit that she was a little focused on staying on her pink
Spot. So proud on my preschooler. I'll attempt to add video later...stay tuned!

Dyan of Dyan's World of Dance wanted you all to become Rockettes, as she had once been. Hence the slutty costumes and make-up.
I wanted to go to Doris Jarcho's school of dance and take tap. I was not allowed to because of the costumes and lovely makeup. Instead I had to take classical ballet at the Northfield Arts Guild where our recitals consisted of our parents watching a typical class where we wore our black leotards. from Peggy
