Because sometimes Mommy just forgets
Today is share day at pre-school. (read=modern show-and-tell). Wednesdays are the one day each week when the kids bring a special item, based on the theme for the week, to "share" with their friends. This week's theme is "the letter E".
So I'm driving to school with the girls when it occurs to me- Ohmigod! Today is share day. Totally forgot. Think. Letter E....do I have anything with the Letter E? Have nothing. Worst. Mom. Ever.
Start trying to explain to Addison - "well honey, today is Share Day and Mommy forgot to have us find something to bring."
silence from the backseat.
"mommy is so sorry, Addison."
silence.
Addison -"what is today's theme?"
Me - "theme? The letter E."
Addison - "oh." (can you hear her heart breaking?)
Addison - "maybe we could bring my Elmo flashlight?"
Me - "why yes we do have the Elmo flashlight in the frontseat." daughter is brilliant! Amazed that she remembered that the Elmo flashlight I took away during Monday's temper-tantrum was still in the car.
Share day not disaster. Mommy status up-graded to "good enough."

Because sometimes I'm just too busy
Keeping the mantra of the past week going (whiny justifications for sub-par performance)...
Here is a list of things that I need to do. Or at least really really want to do, but life just seems too busy to make it happen:
Here is a list of things that I need to do. Or at least really really want to do, but life just seems too busy to make it happen:
- Take a yoga class. Make that first - find a new yoga studio near home. Since spending 30 minutes driving each way to yoga classes stressful enough to diminish the relaxing effect. If too busy to find new yoga studio, then just find 10 minutes to chill in child's pose. Alone. Without a toddler trying to climb up on your back while yelling "horsey ride!"
- Sew the button back on favorite pink shirt so that I can wear it again.
- Go to the dentist. Because I've ignored the past 3 reminder cards. There probably isn't another "in case you forgot" card coming.
- Get a pedicure. Or at least remove the polish from 2 months ago. When your toddler calls it out, you know it's bad. "Mama mama what's on your toes?" Hmmmm - no longer recognizable as nail polish.
- Sort the next size bin for clothes for Charlotte to wear before she "hulks" out of her current onesies
- Get a pair of brown boots. Because try as I might, black simply does not match everything.
- Hang wall decorations in family room...moved in 7 months ago.
- Block time on work calendar to take a vacation day sans kids.
- Frame school pictures of girls from last month. Before they are lost in an office pile only to be discovered when preparing high school graduation posters.

Because sometimes I'm not good at adulthood
After running from meeting to meeting, rushing to print directions (frantic after 3 failed print attempts), dashing to the daycare for noontime feeding, and driving to a supplier...Lunch today consisted of 1/2 a chai tea and a Luna bar. Mmmmmm - healthy!
